Significant contribution to energy conservation for residential houses Hybrid hot-water/heating system, ECO ONE, ranked as No. 1 hot-water heating unit!
Our hybrid hot-water/heating system, ECO ONE, which Rinnai Corporation released in 2012, was selected in February, 2013, as the hot-water unit with the lowest primary energy consumption for hot water supply※1 that was far lower than the electric heat pump hot-water unit (ECO CUTE).
*1 As of February 2013, the primary energy consumption for hot water supply was calculated using the energy conservation assessment program for residential houses or dwelling units from Building Research Institute, Incorporated Administrative Agency, Japan (in cooperation with National Institute for Land and Infrastructure Management)), which was applied on Single Hybrid Series 100L type (tank unit with TRU-R1000 incorporated).
*2 It means the reduced rate of the gas hot-water unit compared to the gas unit (JIS efficiency: 78.2%) for the total floor area of 120 m2 in the new six regions of the new regional classification of Energy Conservation Standard.
- The values above were assessed with the energy conservation assessment program for residential houses or dwelling units from Building Research Institute, Incorporated Administrative Agency, Japan (in cooperation with National Institute for Land and Infrastructure Management)
- Total floor area: 120m2
- The reference hot-water units: Oil hot-water unit (JIS efficiency: 81.3%) for Regions III and IV, gas hot-water unit (JIS efficiency: 78.2%) in Regions V to VII.
- The reduced rate means the reduction ratio in comparison to the reference hot-water units.
Residential houses energy conservation is assessed with “Primary energy consumption” after the revision of Energy Conservation Standard.
Our hybrid hot-water/heating system, ECO ONE, demonstrates the lowest primary energy consumption for hot water supply.
The Standards of Judgment for Construction Clients, etc. and Owners of Specified Buildings under “Act on the Rational Use of Energy (hereinafter referred as Energy Conservation Standard)” was revised in December 2012 and will take effect in October 2013 (*). The revised Energy Conservation Standard has standardized that building energy conservations are assessed based on primary energy consumption while the houses must satisfy the house exterior standard as principle. Under common conditions, the houses subject to the assessment, in principle, must maintain their calculated value with design specification (primary energy consumption in design) as equivalent to the calculated value with standard specification (reference primary energy consumption) or less. The energy purposes applicable to the assessment are “heating/cooling”, “ventilation”, “lighting”, “hot water supply”, “home electric appliance/cooking unit”*3, and “renewable energy consumption with solar energy generation”.
This time, our hybrid hot-water/heating system, ECO ONE, has been assessed as the “combined heat pump/gas instantaneous type hot-water supply” in the hot-water unit category, which is one of the purposes subject to the assessment with Energy Conservation Standard. According to the assessment of hot-water supply units based on the calculation standard, ECO ONE demonstrates with the lowest primary energy consumption for hot water supply, which is far below the electric heat pump hot-water unit (ECO CUTE).
The energy consumption of “hot water supply” takes account of approx. 30% *4 of home energy consumption. Thus, if the primary energy consumption for hot water supply is significantly reduced through introduction of our hybrid hot-water/heating system, ECO ONE, it contributes to prevention of global warming as it reduces CO2 emitted from home use.
*3 It does not concern the energy conservation method because this is not included as building equipments.

Establishment of accreditation criteria for low carbon buildings
With our hybrid hot-water/heating system, ECO ONE, you can receive tax benefits or interest benefits if your house satisfies the accreditation criteria.
The “accreditation criteria for new planning of low-carbon buildings” (hereinafter referred as Low-carbon accreditation criteria) was developed and taken effect in December 2012 based on “Low Carbon City Promotion Act”. The low-carbon accreditation criteria require additional 10% reduction of the primary energy consumption from Energy Conservation Standard. Our hybrid hot-water/heating system, ECO ONE, enables to reduce the primary energy consumption by approx. 30 to 40% from Energy Conservation Standard for hot water supply so that it makes a significant contribution toward achievement of the low-carbon accreditation criteria.
Moreover, if new buildings are accredited as low-carbon houses, house purchasers are eligible to enjoy tax benefits including cutting tax with housing loans or to use “Flat35S (Interest Plan A)”, which reduces long-term fixed housing loan interest for a certain period.
Our hybrid hot-water/heating system, ECO ONE, plays an important role of solving energy issues through reduction of housing hot water supply energy amid escalating demands for further reduction of energy consumption due to prevent global warming and power cut after shutdown of the nuclear stations.
